It’s time for celebrating – the perfect occasion to open our sparkling wines!
From the high hills of the spectacular Alta Langa and the Nebbiolo vineyards around Alba, Airali Brut, Airali Pas Dosé and Cuvée San Rocco are here to take us on a bubbly journey into the artisanal tradition of Metodo Classico winemaking.
Alta Langa DOCG: Airali Brut and Airali Pas Dosé
At Cissone, in the Airali vineyard (which inspired the names of the two labels), Tenuta Carretta cultivates approximately 7.5 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at an altitude of 600 meters. The stony soils and cooler climate, influenced by the Alpine currents, make Alta Langa the ideal micro-terroir for grape varieties that thrive in cooler climates and perform exceptionally well under “extreme” conditions. Particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which yield grapes endowed with freshness and acidity that are suitable for the production of outstanding sparkling wines.
Tenuta Carretta has two labels under the Alta Langa DOCG denomination, both produced using the Metodo Classico method: Airali Brut and Airali Pas Dosé. After a delicate pressing of the grapes and fermentation (at a strictly controlled temperature of 22°C), in April of the year following harvest, the wine is bottled with the lees for secondary fermentation and left to age on racks. Following dégorgement (after being placed on pupitres), liqueur d’expedition is added; for the Pas Dosé type, the bottle is topped up with the same wine.
Airali Brut unveils intense notes of bread crust, nuts, dried figs and honey. Delicate and savory in the mouth, the wine is pleasant and well-balanced, revealing excellent structure. The Pas Dosé version maintains the same aromatic profile, elegance and structure of the Brut, but is drier on the palate, presenting pronounced acidity and freshness.
Both are perfect for aperitifs and ideal with fish-based dishes, risotto and fresh cheese.
Cuvée San Rocco – Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Spumante Rosé – Metodo Classico Extra Brut
Made from grapes harvested in the vineyards of San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, a hamlet near Alba, Cuvée San Rocco is one of the few sparkling Nebbiolo d’Alba Rosé currently available on the market. In this version, the main grape variety of the reds from Langhe strips off its austere robe and unveils a pleasantly dry and decisive side that reveals incredible complexity.
Made from Nebbiolo grapes pressed whole using a pneumatic press and fermented at low temperatures, the wine ages in stainless steel tanks for a minimum of six months before aging in the bottle for 18 months.
Revealing a fine and persistent foam, the wine has a delicate onion skin color and golden reflections. The broad aroma uncovers a fascinating blend of rose, dried fruit and bread crust, with warmer hints of plum at higher temperatures. The mouth is full and harmonious, unveiling pleasant flavor, clean structure as well as a long and engaging persistence.
This Metodo Classico Extra Brut is an exceptional drink for the entire meal, enlivening convivial moments with its complexity and versatility. Perfect for festive celebrations!
