Nebbiolando, all Tenuta Carretta Nebbiolo-based wines
Reading time in
In Langhe and Roero, the Nebbiolo grape is «king».
Not in terms of the vineyard area or even by the hectoliters of wine produced. It is «king» for the enological quality it can express, recognized by prestigious denominations; and for the incredible ability to “read” the territory where it is planted. As the pedoclimatic and microclimatic conditions in which it is found become different, Nebbiolo, like few other varieties in the world, can (greatly) change the organoleptic characteristics of the wines it will give life to.
Those who grow Nebbiolo in Piedmont know this very well: a few hundred meters between two identical vineyards can give completely different results, sometimes diametrically opposite. Above all, Nebbiolo is extremely ductile for vinification. In the hands of expert oenologists, capable of understanding and respecting the characteristics of the places it comes from, the grape can be transformed into wines that are easy to drink, fruity and with marked floral aromas; or labels of impeccable austerity, characterized by important structures and aging: long-lived, grandiloquent and deep wines, which have conquered the peaks of the wine world.
Enhancing the ductility of Nebbiolo is one of the challenges to which Tenuta Carretta dedicates its best efforts, in the vineyard as in the cellar.
Understanding Nebbiolo and enhancing its territorial expressions is not an easy task, but a necessary one. Because the vineyards of Tenuta Carretta stretch both in Langhe and in Roero; on the hills of Barolo and those of Barbaresco, where Nebbiolo finds very different habitats and climate.
NEBBIOLANDO
These are the premises that give life to Nebbiolando, training and promotion of the knowledge of Nebbiolo, in all of its facets.
Because Tenuta Carretta is one of the rare Piedmontese wineries to vinify all the shades of Nebbiolo from Langhe and Roero, currently present in nine different labels.
Which are they? Let’s see them together.
