Reading time in
While the new vintages are being presented at on the international wine festival circuit or age in our cellars, the press continues to praise Tenuta Carretta and its subsidiary Ristorante 21.9 da Flavio Costa and La Locanda Carretta in Cannubi for their hospitality.
Tenuta Carretta Winery is not just wine. As a member of the Gruppo Terre Miroglio a hospitality group dedicated to the food and wine tourism in one of the most unique wine regions in the world, it is a leader in the region. The media clearly thinks so too. Here is a round-up of articles written over the last three months that make us very proud!
GROWING TOURISM
Before we get into the highlight reel of the international press on Tenuta Carretta, let’s look at some data. At the end of March, tourism numbers for the Langhe and Roero from the previous year were published. These two areas welcomed in 7.6% more guests and an overall growth of 6%. There were more than 330 000 people who visited and over 750 000 overnight stays. This is substantial growth in number of visitors and how long they are staying. The largest growth in demographic was visitors from Northern Europe over the summer season. There was a 10.8% increase of arrivals from Denmark as well as a 5.1% increase of arrivals and an 8.7% increase of presence by German-speaking tourists in respect to 2016. Americans have also begun visiting en masse, with an increase of 9.2% in arrivals and an overall increase of 16.7% presence in the region. Much of this growth can be attributed to the promotion of outdoor activity-based tourism and the growing number of high-quality Hotel/Restaurant enterprises.
MELAVERDE RECCOMENDS LA LOCANDA IN CANNUBI
Melaverde, the magazine associated with the gourmet television program created by Giacomo Tiraboschi, published a dedicated issue on Barolo, the “undisputed King of red wine.” One of their recommendations was to sleep amongst the vines at the celebrated Locanda Carretta in Cannubi, a beautifully renovated restaurant and hotel in the middle of one of the world’s most renown vineyards.
THE BEST CELLARS FOR WINE TOURISTS
GoWine, an association dedicated to the promotion of wine tourism, has recently published its guide of the best wineries offering high-quality hospitality. Tenuta Carretta, along with Ristorante 21.9, was awarded the special prize of Corporate Table of the Year.
A GOURMET DESTINATION
Ristorante 21.9 da Flavio Costa, the Michelin starred restaurant within Tenuta Carretta, was well reviewed in Report Gourmet saying, “truffles, caviar and champagne: the discreet luxury of Flavio Costa.”
A PART OF THE LANDSCAPE
Locanda Carretta in Cannubi has been featured in a long-form, detailed report in Convivium. The online magazine lashed praise and admiration on La Locanda, emphasizing the quality reception, the extraordinary local food and wine and above all, the stunning location amongst the vines within the Cannubi Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva.
THE WINES OF SPRING
To end this roundup, we want to highlight two previews of Tenuta Carretta’s ‘Spring’ Wines. First, in the Corriere di Langhe e Roero, a review of Cereya, the new label from the winery in Piobesi d’Alba. It is a rosé made from Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes and the Corriere describes it as “a wine to drink with friends, perfect for any occasion due to its versatility in pairing.”
Springtime wines are being mentioned even across the pond! The Berkshire Eagle, a local newspaper in Pittsfield, Massachusetts ran a piece which included our Cayega label, calling it the “most explosive white” this Spring and the one of the best wines under $20 to toast the new season.
